When Hurt Happens We Can Become A Stronger Person

Just finished reading Brene Brown’s Rising Strong and I love this book it was a great read and I believe everyone should read it. We all fall, we all fail, yet do we get back up after our fall or after our failure?

Have learned a lot while reading this book and other things I have felt before or feelings about certain topics did see in this book. Communication is so important and is the one thing pretty much discussed in the book. Fear can rip you apart inside and on the outside but, we should not let it define who we are. Being vulnerable is another obstacle we all face whether we acknowledge it or not. Sometimes being vulnerable is not a bad thing.

2020 and even with 2021 mental illness is at the forefront of everything. It is something that is swept underneath the rug. Again communication is key and we need to talk to each other. Instead of avoiding situations or confrontations we should be able to talk to each other, letting each other know what is wrong and other things.

Keeping your emotions buried is not good what one can do is write your feelings your emotions our in a journal. This is something I do and it does help with things especially when if I have something to say I need to write it out before speaking. “Failure can become nourishment if we are willing to get curious, show up vulnerable and human, and put rising strong into practice,” (214). Are we open and willing to explore our failures? I know feeling like what you did was good but then someone says something completely different and ends up hurting your to make you feel low. Don’t let this fear define you. Grab your fear and ask questions, grow from that experience, be brave and be strong.

A powerful read about being vulnerable, scared, fearful, and not letting these control you but, becoming a person who is strong.

A Goodie Bag For Alhambra Reads 2021

This past Friday I went to my local Library here in Alhambra to pick up a bag with the book club will be discussing next month. Opened up the bag to find a book with some goodies to go along with it. A couple of flyers with the theme #Alhambrareads2021 three in different languages of certain questions to answer from what we have read.

Back to Reading with the Book Club

It has been a long time since I have been on here as well as posted anything. Since I have the time once again and I am able to participate with Alhambra Page Turners there is a new book they will be reading which I look forward to discussing with the group.

This was group I was proud to be a part of. I looked forward to my Tuesday meeting at the library each week to discuss about the book(s)we were reading. Got so busy with school and then eventually working that I let this slip me by. Times are different where we are meeting in Zoom going to be different but glad I am able to participate in this.

Merry Christmas!

I’m spending time with my family this holiday season, so I’m going to keep it short. I hope everyone is staying home and enjoying the holidays! Since I can’t upload a Christmas card, I made one from The Timely Death Trilogy. As you guys know, I am a huge fan of Rinmaru Games, and they released a holiday game. (Try it out here.) I used it to create the picture below:

From left to right, you see Eric Welborn, Jessica Taylor, Teresa Young, and Jonathon Stone. They wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, too!

Stay warm,

Now then lad

That is so me, I’ve done that a couple of times. Just be somewhere and start reading and can’t stop because the story is really good.

My Sister's Kidney

I’m a reader. Even as a young lad, wherever we went, I normally had a book with me. We went to an airshow once and I don’t know whether it was boredom at the planes, or simply that it was a nice summers day and the current book was particularly rivetting, but I didn’t actually see much of the display. As my mum commented, I had my head stuck in a book as usual, which normally meant I was away on an adventure, somewhere far away.

My old man wasn’t much of a reader at the time. The bloke next door taught me to play chess and when we moved I needed a new sparring partner. Dad kept promising to learn the game, he didn’t though, so in my wisdom and youthful optimism, I bought him a “Teach yourself chess” book for his birthday. He never did read it, nor…
